Lotus honours racer with exclusive Emira Clark Edition

Lotus is honouring Jim Clark with the introduction of an Emira Clark Edition. Just 60 examples of this exclusive model are planned.

Emira just got tastier with the release of the Emira Clark Edition.
Just 60 of these Emira Clark specials will be made, with global allocation not yet clear.

The legacy of Jim Clark and Team Lotus is a part of motorsport history. In 1965, Clark secured the Formula 1 World Championship with Team Lotus. He also triumphed in the Indianapolis 500, a double victory that remains unmatched to this day.

That same year, Clark further demonstrated his extraordinary talent with championship victories in Formula 2 and the Tasman Series in Australia and New Zealand. He also won touring car races in a Lotus Cortina.

The yellow and green paint job sure stands out.

The body of the exclusive Emira features Clark Racing Green paint with a contrasting black roof and silver mirrors. There’s also a yellow racing stripe flared around the front end. This takes after Clark’s 1965 Indianapolis 500-winning Lotus Type 38. A machined aluminium fuel filler cap with a blue anodised centre, and yellow exhaust pipes further enhance the special look.

A hand-painted yellow pinstripe picks out the Emira swage line, complemented by Clark Edition branding on the doors.

The interior features sports seats with asymmetrical finish, reminding of the red-trimmed Lotus racing cars Clark drove in 1965. The driver’s seat has red leather and Alcantara trim, while the passenger seat gets black leather and Alcantara.

Other retro items include a sixties-style wooden gear knob and commemorative Jim Clark badging featuring Clark’s personalised tartan from Lochcarron, Scotland. There’s also a Jim Clark signature on the dashboard and Team Lotus detailing on the seats.

Wow, that is loud inside.

Every Emira Clark Edition will have numbered carbon fibre treadplates. And each customer receives a bespoke hand-crafted leather holdall with unique Clark Edition details.

The Emira Clark Edition uses Lotus Emira V6 mechanicals. It features a 300kW supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential. The Emira V6 offers a pure driving experience thanks to the hydraulic steering feel and the Lotus Driver’s pack that includes sports suspension, Track Mode and revised exhaust sound.

And the man himself, in his heyday.
Clark died in 1968 following an F2 crash at high speed.

The combination of exclusive design and uncompromising performance makes this limited edition a collector’s item for car enthusiasts worldwide.
