Toyota New Zealand has released local pricing for the new GR Sport Hilux ahead of the model’s arrival in mid-2023.

The new off-road-oriented model is priced from $74,990 which is Toyota’s Driveaway Price including GST, a full tank of fuel, floor mats, 1000km of Road User Charge, Toyota Car Service Advantage fixed price servicing package, and more.

Taking inspiration from its Dakar Rally racer sibling, Toyota Gazoo Racing has developed the top-of-the-range Hilux into the most off-road capable version of the production model.

Under the bonnet sits the same 2.8-litre engine as the rest of the Hilux range, except the wick has been turned up to 165kW and 550Nm of torque thanks to a revised turbocharger which pumps out an extra 10 per cent of boost alongside revamped fuel injection control.

Other rugged appointments include a limited slip differential and active traction control, as well as upgraded suspension that benefits on-road handling and comfort.

You’ll also notice the ute features a wider track thanks to redesigned wishbones housed under pumped fenders. The front end has also been adapted to increase the GR Sport Hilux’s approach angle.

As for the interior, the Gazoo treatment sees the pedals be replaced with ‘sports’ counterparts while the seatbelts have also been coloured red. There’s plenty of GR badging to be found throughout too, including on the steering wheel, headrests, red brake calipers, and exterior badges.

The off-road-oriented Toyota GR Sport Hilux will go on sale in New Zealand from 1 May 2023.
