Lexus has pulled the covers off a lineup of concept vehicles at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, each designed to push the boundaries of what luxury mobility can be. Under the theme “Discover,” the brand presented five striking concepts that blend cutting-edge design, sustainability, and imagination — spanning from land to sea, and even the air.
The showcase marks the latest step in Lexus’ transformation from a carmaker into a curator of luxury lifestyle experiences, combining craftsmanship, technology and emotional design in new and unexpected ways.
“This is an exciting moment for Lexus globally and for our customers here in New Zealand,” said Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand. “New designs, new in-car experiences and an even higher level of sustainable craftsmanship make this a truly special time for the brand.”
Five Concepts, One Vision
Each of Lexus’ new concept vehicles embodies a different interpretation of “Discover,” exploring how mobility can become more personal, sustainable, and emotionally engaging.

LS Concept – Discover Sanctuary
A radical reimagining of the LS flagship limousine, the Sanctuary concept is designed as the ultimate chauffeur-driven vehicle. It features an innovative six-wheel layout that allows for a flat floor and increased interior space — an idea made possible by its fully electric powertrain. Inside, passengers are cocooned in a serene, private environment with rotating seats, partition walls and fine materials that prioritise calm and comfort.

LS Coupe Concept – Discover Duality
Blending the elegance of the LS sedan with the dynamic energy of the LC coupe, the LS Coupe concept offers a striking mix of performance and luxury. Its four-seat layout and sculpted proportions reflect a balance between formal refinement and emotional, driver-focused design.

LS Micro Concept – Discover Essence
At the smallest end of the scale, the LS Micro is a fully autonomous, compact BEV designed for last-mile mobility in urban settings. With gullwing doors and a private cabin, it’s envisioned as a quiet, personal space for navigating dense city environments.

Lexus Sport Concept – Discover Immersion
Arguably the most eye-catching of the lineup, the Sport Concept previews a next-generation Lexus performance car with a low, wide stance and immersive, driver-centric cockpit. While technical details remain under wraps, Lexus says the concept’s design brings drivers “closer to the essence of performance.” Production potential is reportedly under review.

Lexus Catamaran Concept – Discover Escapism
Extending the Lexus experience beyond the road, the Catamaran Concept offers a taste of luxury marine mobility. Featuring solar-panel sails and a tranquil, zero-emission cruising experience, it’s designed as a “Luxury Space on water” for those seeking quiet, sustainable escape.
Beyond the Automobile
The “Discover” lineup reflects Lexus’ ambition to evolve into a design-led luxury brand that redefines the relationship between technology, sustainability and lifestyle.
“With over 80% of all Lexus vehicles sold in New Zealand now electrified, we’re focused on offering sustainable options without compromising on luxury, design or driving pleasure,” Davis said. “There’s a clear commitment to delivering more choice, quality and innovation — from everyday enjoyment to the most refined experiences.”
Complementing the brand’s presence at the show is INTERSECT by Lexus, a design and lifestyle space in Tokyo that showcases the brand’s creative ethos through art, food and technology — no driving required. Davis describes it as “a creative hub for people to connect through design and craftsmanship, and an extension of the singular Lexus experience.”
Lexus’ Future in Focus
With Japan Mobility Show 2025 attracting record attention and growing interest from Kiwi travellers, Lexus New Zealand is using the event to highlight the brand’s direction and ambition.
“This year we’re giving New Zealanders a front-row seat to the future of Lexus — from the futuristic concepts in Tokyo to the immersive experiences at INTERSECT,” said Davis. “Together, they showcase Lexus’ evolution from automaker to experience curator, connecting design-conscious, experience-driven New Zealanders with the future of luxury mobility.”
Lexus’ “Discover” concepts offer a tantalising look at that future — one where the lines between car, lifestyle, and imagination blur to create a new form of luxury that moves effortlessly across land, sea, and beyond.
