Leapmotor unveils its electric future at IAA Mobility 2025

Leapmotor marked a major step in its global expansion at the IAA show in Munich with the world premiere of the B05 sport C-hatchback and the commercial launch of the B10 electric SUV.

Leapmotor B05 appeals to a younger, urban audience. Bright colours too we'd guess.

Leapmotor B05

The B05 is a compact hatchback aimed at younger, urban drivers. It embodies advanced design, agile handling, intelligent systems, and strong build quality, say its makers.

Smart look at the rear too. Love those spinning wheels while it is standing still. Clever.

Special features include sleek lines, frameless doors and 19-inch alloys.

Check out our review of the Leapmotor C10REEV.

For vitals, it is 4430mm long, 1880mm wide, 1520mm high, and rides on a wheelbase of 2735mm. The design balances a compact exterior with a generous interior.

Pretty okay overall design really. And looks practical too.

Leapmotor’s CEO, Zhu Jiangming, describes the B05 as “a statement,” highlighting the company’s strategy to capture the European compact EV market with a blend of innovation, affordability, and style. It evidently shares underpinnings and mechanicals with the B10 and can get to 100km/h from standstill in 6.8sec. It is due out Q2 of next year.

Leapmotor B10: Commercial Launch

The Leapmotor B10 went on sale in the European market during the Munich show, with deliveries kicking off this month. It is due to go on sale in over 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and South America.

Like a shrunken C10, yes?

Interior

Inside, the B10 emphasises practicality and comfort. It evidently offers one of the largest passenger spaces in its class, with generous rear legroom, headroom, and 1400 mm of width for rear passengers. Flexibility is enhanced by customisable seating arrangements and 22 storage compartments.

The B10 at its global debut.

A 14.6-inch floating touchscreen provides an easy-to-use interface. The LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system supports remote access via a mobile app. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be enabled through over-the-air updates.

Performance and Technology

Powering the B10 is a 163kW/240Nm motor, allowing a sprint time to 100km/h of eight seconds and a top speed of 170km/h. There are two battery packs, one 56kWh for 361km of range (WLTP). The other is a 67kWh pack with up to 434km. Both support 11kW AC charging and up to 168kW DC charging, meaning a 30–80 per cent top up takes under 20 minutes.

Snazzy lighting up front. Simple fascia too.

The SUV is designed for balanced handling, with 50:50 weight distribution, multi-link rear suspension, and chassis tuning co-developed with Stellantis engineers. Safety features include a high-strength steel safety cage, 17 ADAS functions, and a 360° camera system.

Trims and Features

The B10 will be available as a Life version that comes with a panoramic glass roof and sunshade, 18-inch alloys, a 360° parking camera, and the full ADAS suite. The Design trim adds artificial leather seats, ambient lighting, and heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable front seats.

Whopper screen, no distraction there we're thinking.

Market outlook

Leapmotor’s unveiling of the B05 and launch of the B10 highlight the brand’s intent to grow in export markets. The company aims to appeal to young, design-conscious drivers with these new entrants, while expanding its footprint globally.
