Chinese EV brand Leapmotor is expanding its local line-up with the arrival of the all-new B10 SUV, set to launch in New Zealand this October.
Joining the C10 SUV – already on sale here in both BEV and REEV forms – the B10 will be offered in two fully electric variants, dubbed Life and Design, and is pitched as a tech-rich, value-focused alternative in the crowded mid-size SUV segment. Pricing is yet to be revealed.

At 4.51m long, it is more compact than the 4.74m long C10. However, with a 2.7m long wheelbase, only 90mm shorter than the C10, rear seat space should be okay in the B10 as well.

Smart Tech, Practical Design
Built on the brand’s new LEAP 3.5 architecture, the B10 promises a blend of advanced driver-assistance, connectivity and practicality. Inside, both models feature a 14.6-inch central infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch driver display, wireless phone charging, and app-based controls for everything from remote air-con to scheduled charging and keyless entry. Over-the-air updates will keep the software current without requiring a dealer visit.

Practical touches include a 25-litre frunk, with 430L available in the boot, which Leapmotor says expands out to 1700 litres of space. There is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering devices directly from the car. The Design variant adds premium extras such as ventilated eco-leather seats, a 12-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel, and an electric tailgate.

Range and Charging
Both have a 160kW/240Nm motor on the rear axle. The Life uses a 56.2kWh battery pack, while the design has a 67.1kWh unit, good for up to 434km (WLTP) on a charge (361km for the Life). Both versions support fast DC charging (Life – 140kW, Design – 168kW), topping from 30 to 80 per cent in about 20 minutes. Both have an 11kW AC on board charger.

Safety and Support
Safety is a major selling point, with the B10 packing 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), alongside a rigid body structure and crash protection measures. Every model will be backed by a four-year/100,000km vehicle warranty, eight-year/160,000km battery warranty, and roadside assistance.

Expanding Footprint
Leapmotor is distributed locally by Auto Distributors New Zealand in partnership with Armstrong’s, giving the brand sales and aftersales coverage across key centres. The C10 has already helped establish Leapmotor’s presence here, and ADNZ general manager Brian Carr is confident the B10 will follow suit.

“Leapmotor is quickly establishing itself as an internationally recognised marque, with innovation and advanced technology at its core,” said Carr. “The B10 delivers versatility, comfort, efficiency and functionality, all at an attainable price point.”
