Kia PV5 van revealed

February 20, 2025
Kia PV5 Cargo van ready to go

Kia has unveiled the exterior design of its new PV5 Passenger and Cargo models. The PV5, previewed at CES 2024, is the first model under Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global business strategy. It aims to redefine space and mobility by leveraging Kia’s EV technology and offering customisation through modularity.

The PV5 will be available in various configurations to suit different customer needs. Alongside the Passenger and Cargo models, additional specialised conversion options will be introduced at the 2025 Kia EV Day, which is happening later this month. The PV5’s contemporary design is said to emphasise flexibility and modularity.

Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design, stated that all PV5 models adhere to Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, combining a bold, futuristic aesthetic with practical capability.

PV5 Passenger Design

The PV5 Passenger model features a refined geometric profile with large windows for enhanced visibility. Its window area is framed by bold black glass surrounds, contrasting with the body color. Black geometric wheel arch claddings and rocker panels align with Kia’s SUV lineup, adding an off-road character. The vehicle’s bold lighting design and black accents on the headlights contribute to a modern appeal.

At the rear, the PV5 Passenger exhibits a robust, functional design with a chamfered D-pillar extending to the back, enhancing the vehicle’s volume. A single lift-up tailgate, along with a strong bumper, maintains design continuity.

PV5 Cargo Design

Sharing the same geometric design as the Passenger model, the PV5 Cargo features a boxier shape to maximize space efficiency. It showcases a clean, modern aesthetic while maintaining a structured design approach. Unlike the Passenger model, the PV5 Cargo includes twin side-opening tailgate doors, optimizing practicality and ease of loading. The rear design enhances storage capacity while maintaining a sleek, solid look.

Looking Ahead: 2025 Kia EV Day

Kia will reveal the full PV5 lineup, including derivative models and conversion options, at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, on February 24. The event will also highlight Kia’s strategic plans for its PBV business.
