Is your Porsche 911 Turbo S too tame?

Words NZ Autocar | Images RML Group

If so, perhaps you should contact the RML Group in the UK who can sort your problem. It has just created the ultimate GT Hypercar, revealed recently at Salon Privé.

This looks built to destroy tracks like the Nurburgring.

They took a Porsche 911 Turbo S and used inspiration from Le Mans 24 Hours racers to crank it up. The result is this bespoke hypercar.

This particular model draws inspiration from the Porsche GT1 that won Le Mans in 1998. It also pays homage to modern Le Mans Hypercars.

Using the RML P39 codename, it has previously been shown in prototype form. RML claims that its GT Hypercar should be able to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the low 6min 30sec range. However, this figure was derived from simulations.

Nothing ever looked so good in purple before.

Starting out with a 911 Turbo S, the GT Hypercar gains a new carbonfibre body. They also extend its wheelbase and make the front and rear tracks wider. Then they add bespoke active aerodynamics, a large front splitter and an adjustable rear spoiler.

The RML group is producing 39 such examples. This model attended Salon Privé in Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire. It is one of 10 RML 40th Anniversary Special Editions. They are priced at over $NZ1.1m apiece, and you must provide the donor car as well.

The Special Edition features bespoke interior details, along with the optional Performance Pack and Track Pack. These add selectable ride height adjustment and a rear roll cage. They also remove the rear seats cos who needs them in a track car?

Tuning work in partnership with Litchfield Motors boosts power to  676kW, while the model also offers more than 1000Nm of torque. The standard Turbo S comes with 478kW and 800Nm.

At Salon Privé the show car also featureed special styling elements, like the purple roof, carbon tinted bonnet, gold wheels and hand-painted gold badging. As with the other 40th Anniversary Special Edition models, it sits on 20-inch forged alloy wheels up front and 21-inch items at the rear.

The P39 name reflects the fact that the GT Hypercar is the 39th project car produced by RML Group since it was founded in 1984. Many of its cars were produced for private customers and details are withheld. This is is one of the first the firm has put its own name to.

GTH stands for GT Hypercar but then you knew that, right?
