Indian Scout Family Expands in Gen II

Indian Motorcycle has introduced the second generation of its entry-level motorcycle, the Scout. There will be five new models, with two trim levels, and over 100 accessories available.

Traction control and Ride Modes offer a tailored riding experience while a low seat height and ABS are standard across all models. Mike Dougherty, President of Indian Motorcycle commented “As our top-selling platform, we’re excited to take Scout to the next level and continue its evolution.”

At the heart of the new Scout is a redesigned 1250cc liquid-cooled V-Twin engine, known as the SpeedPlus 1250. Delivering 82kW of power and 109Nm of torque, each Scout mill is hooked up to a six-speed transmission.

Along with a new look, light weight and a low seat height, a new platform underpins the five new Scout models which come with a range of technology packages.

First up is Scout Bobber with an aggressive stance and blacked out features, chopped bobber fenders and headlight nacelle, solo seat and 51mm of suspension travel. Bar-end mirrors give the Bobber a cut-down look.

The Sport Scout has a more aggressive mein, featuring gloss black 150mm moto-style risers with machined handlebars and triple clamps. Different ergonomics mean improved control for aggressive riding. Other features include a sport-style seat, a quarter fairing, and 19-inch front wheel.

The Scout Classic features lots of chrome, flared fenders, wire wheels, a low seat height, and relaxed ergonomics for generalist duties.

Indian Super Scout is designed for any type of riding, though with more of a touring bent. It comes with saddlebags, wire wheels, a quick-release windshield and a passenger pillion seat. It has 76mm of suspension travel.

Indian 101 Scout is the highest-performing Scout to date. It features adjustable piggyback rear shocks, inverted adjustable front forks, and a pair of Brembo disc brakes. A custom-stitched solo seat is designed to get the most from the bike’s performance. Like the Sport Scout, this comes with 150mm moto style risers and machined highlights.

The Indian Scout family is available with two technology trim levels. Standard offers a value price point to attract riders, while the Limited +Tech Trim delivers ride-enhancing technology. Scout Classic, Bobber, and Sport Scout get the Standard kit which includes ABS, LED lighting, and an analogue gauge with fuel level and fuel economy readouts.

The Limited +Tech Trim is applied to the Super and 101 Scout models and introduces a 101mm Round Touchscreen Display, offering a GPS system with turn-by-turn navigation, point-to-point route planning, configurable gauges, and ride stats. There’s also push-button keyless ignition. The Limited +Tech trim is also a cost option for the other Scout models.

Over 100 family accessories allow riders to tailor their bike’s style and dial-in personal comfort, including 32 different ergonomic combinations. From a variety of handlebar options to reduced- and extended-reach seats to mid-controls, riders can personalise their bike to fit their height and preferred riding position. There are also four different groups of accessories available, depending on rider needs.

Pricing is to hand, kicking off with the base Scout Bobber at $24,495. The Scout Limited Plus, the top of the range model, will sell for $29,995. Sport Scout costs $25,495 for the base model while the Limited + Tech adds $2k.

The Super Scout, the pair of them, go on sale for $28,495, with the Limited +Tech trim, while the Scout Classic Bobber (also with Limited +Tech trim) costs $26,995.
