Honda Super-ONE EV coming to NZ in 2026

Honda New Zealand has confirmed the brand's tiny EV is headed to NZ

Honda New Zealand has confirmed it will launch the new Honda Super-ONE—a compact electric city car derived from the Honda Super EV Concept—in the second half of 2026.

Unveiled publicly at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 before appearing at Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Super-ONE continues Honda’s push toward full electrification while staying true to the brand’s reputation for nimble, engaging small cars.

Compact, agile, and built for the city

At under 3.6 metres long and 1.6 metres wide, the Super-ONE is designed for the realities of urban driving—tight streets, limited parking, and stop-start traffic. Honda promises a surprisingly roomy interior, lightweight structure, and responsive handling.

We don’t know specifications yet, but the Japanese-marked N-One on which it is based gives clues. It is powered by a 47kW/162Nm front motor with a 29.6kWh battery pack. Range on the WLTC cycle is a just under 300km. That model is priced in Japan at just under NZ$30,000.

Honda New Zealand Managing Director Carolyn McMahon says the new model will resonate strongly with Kiwi drivers seeking a smart, sustainable commuter.

“The Honda Super-ONE is perfectly suited to New Zealand’s urban lifestyle,” she says. “It’s an agile, quiet, and confidence-inspiring EV that makes every drive around town a pleasure.”

Tested for real-world conditions

Development involved extensive testing across Japan’s city streets and open-road routes to fine-tune ride comfort, safety systems, and charging performance. Honda says the car reflects the brand’s “fun to drive” ethos while meeting global safety and efficiency standards.

“As we prepare for the next phase of electrification in New Zealand, the Super-ONE shows how Honda continues to combine intelligent design, advanced technology, and the joy of driving,” McMahon adds.

Expanding the electrified line-up

The Super-ONE will join Honda New Zealand’s expanding electrified portfolio, following the new Prelude and the latest e:HEV hybrid versions of CR-V and ZR-V. It will sit as the brand’s most compact full-electric offering to date and a bridge between urban EV mobility and Honda’s forthcoming 0 Series range.

Further local specifications, pricing, and performance details are expected closer to launch.
