Geely names New Zealand brand manager

Jordan Haines Geely NZ MD

Jordan Haines will lead Geely New Zealand, which will launch in April.

Giltrap Group will distribute the brand locally, says Haines, who brings 13 years of experience in the automotive industry with him. He has been with the group since 2018, most recently as Volkswagen New Zealand National Sales Manager.

“I am excited at the opportunity to launch Geely into our market as it is a transformative brand with innovation and sustainability at its forefront. Geely will bring world-class engineering at an affordable price that is within the reach of all New Zealanders,” says Haines.

Geely EX5 will likely go up against the likes of BYD Atto3.

Geely Auto announced a strategic partnership with Giltrap Group in November 2024. The company describes the alliance with the New Zealand-owned distributor and retailer as a key achievement in Geely’s global expansion. They say it further solidifies its presence in the Oceania market and is pivotal to Geely’s sustained growth and reputation.

Steve Kenchington Giltrap Group CEO, says, “Jordan and his team will be working with one of the world’s great car makers. We are delighted that Geely Auto is about to open its first New Zealand dealership, extending our portfolio with the greater Geely Group. This is a very exciting time for Geely with its global growth trajectory and increased model range coming to market over the coming years.”

The Geely EX5, a mid-sized electric vehicle, will be the first model to enter the New Zealand market. This will be followed by a complete range of powertrains, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, range-extended and petrol-powered vehicles.

Geely Auto joins Giltrap Group’s extended Geely portfolio, which already includes the established brands of Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus.
