Fully electric Fiat 500e coming to New Zealand

The fully electric Fiat 500e is on its way to New Zealand with pricing and specification now being confirmed for the two available variants.

Its iconic looks will be familiar to Kiwis as the 500e’s design is based on its petrol-powered counterpart, with the electric model growing in width and length by 56mm and 61mm respectively.

Equipped with a front mounted electric motor, the Italian hatchback delivers a power and torque figure of 87kW and 220Nm which draws electricity from a 42kWh battery.

Recharging the battery to 80 per cent takes 35 minutes via a fast charger, while the 500e can travel 320km on a full 100 per cent charge.

The 500e will be available in Pop and Icon variants with both featuring an interior made from recycled marine plastic, emphasising its focus on sustainability.

Pricing for the 500e Pop starts at $59,990 which features Fiat’s monogram seats, a body coloured dashboard, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch driver display, and a wireless device charger.

It also comes complete with a plethora of safety and convenience features like attention assist, lane control, autonomous emergency braking, level 2 autonomous driving, heated seats, keyless entry, rear sensors, and a rear-view camera.

The 500e Icon is priced from $64,990 and adds a fixed glass roof, a more “premium” interior featuring an ice-beige finish and Fiat’s “eco-leather” trim.

On the outside, the higher spec model gets chrome exterior accents, LED headlights and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

Adding to the tech fit out are 360 degree parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist.

Both models can come finished in Ice White, Ocean Green, Mineral Grey, Onyx Black, Rose Gold, and Celestial Blue colours.

Those looking for something sportier can opt for the Abarth 500e which is set to arrive in New Zealand later on in 2023.
