Evans does it again, claims back-to-back wins in Rome

Mitch Evans came, saw and conquered Rome this weekend, winning the second Formula E race overnight and going back-to-back in the Italian capital.
Whereas yesterday’s victory was all domination, win number two came as a reward of a risky yet cunning strategy.
Once again, Jaguar opted to run Evans long and leave his final dose of attack mode till the end of the race.
Doing that meant the Kiwi would have a speed boost on the run home when everyone else had already used their last one up.
Some late overtakes, a timely safety car and then a resilient drive to defend from Jean-Eric Vergne on the final lap ensured Evans walked away as the victor once more.
“This weekend has been a dream,” Evans said. “I was hoping to come to Rome and get some solid points, but a double win is just incredible.”
Evans came into the doubleheader with just a single championship point to his name.
The season up to that point had been awful at best. But, now, two wins in the books have surged Evans to fourth in the standings.
He has gone from backmarker to championship contender in two days.
“This is our third win here now and I’m going to take this incredible feeling and momentum into Monaco. It is time to celebrate.”
It was another disappointing day for Nick Cassidy.
His race ended in the wall with two minutes to go. A battle with the second Jaguar of Sam Bird was the cause of the accident.
Cassidy was on to score a decent haul of points before the collision.
