Efficiency gains for updated Mustang Mach-E

Ford New Zealand has confirmed updates to the Mustang Mach-E for the 2025 model year, bringing sharper performance, greater efficiency, and subtle styling tweaks across the range.

Two variants will be offered locally when the refreshed line-up arrives in showrooms this month: the rear-wheel-drive Select, priced at $74,990 plus on-roads, and the all-wheel-drive GT at $116,990 plus on-roads.

“Ford New Zealand is focused on delivering a compelling package in the expanding EV market,” says Mathew Slade, Ford New Zealand Marketing Director. “The MY25 Mustang Mach-E introduces more power, fresh design inside and out, and a new energy-efficient heat-pump system—reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation.”

Power boost across the range

The Select becomes NZ’s only non-GT option

The Mach-E GT gains a serious lift in output, now producing 434 kW and 955 Nm of torque. Range rises to an estimated 515 km (WLTP) thanks to a 91 kWh usable battery.

The Select model’s single-motor setup climbs to 212 kW and 525 Nm, paired with a 73 kWh usable battery for an estimated 470 km range.

Faster charging and better thermal management

DC fast-charging performance improves for the GT, with 10–80 per cent charge time dropping from 45 minutes to 36 minutes when connected to a 150 kW charger.

A new heat-pump system contributes to this efficiency boost, improving cabin climate control while helping maintain optimum battery temperature. Although the peak charging rate is unchanged, the system allows the car to sustain higher speeds for longer—cutting around 10 minutes from a full rapid-charge session.

The Select variant also benefits from updated suspension hardware—new sway bars, springs, and dampers—aimed at refining ride comfort without dulling the Mach-E’s athletic edge.

Styling and feature updates

The transmission shifter move from between the seats to the steering column

Inside, a new column-mounted shifter replaces the previous rotary dial, freeing up extra storage in the centre console. Both front seats are now 10-way power-adjustable (up from eight-way), while the Select picks up features previously reserved for higher trims, including a panoramic glass roof, power tailgate, and projector-beam LED headlamps with DRLs.

Eight exterior colours are offered, six of them new: Eruption Green, Molten Magenta, Terrain, Velocity Blue, Glacier Grey, and Grabber Yellow, joining Shadow Black and Star White.

Local availability

The Mach-E has been absent from New Zealand showrooms for several months while Ford cleared existing stock through its extended test-drive programme. The mid-range Premium variant offered in Australia will not be sold here.

The 2025 Mustang Mach-E is available to order now, with first customer deliveries beginning this month.

Look out for our first-drive impressions and video online next Thursday.
