Citroen Type H van rides again as modern EV

The classic Citroen Type H van is making a comeback.

Doesn't look that Rapha to me.

Using a modern Citroen Relay platform, it will return as either a diesel or electric load hauler.

The much admired Citroen Type H van is getting a second life thanks to Italian company, Caselani, and a leading Citroen 2CV specialist, The 2CV Shop.

This is the Citroen Relay upon which the Type H is based.

The latter is recognised for its expertise in rebuilding classic Citroen 2CVs. And it would seem to be expanding its horizons to include a new line of retro vans.

Using the modern Citroen Relay platform as its basis (above), the Type H is fitted with a body from Caselani. It blends vintage charm with usable performance.

The Type H is produced by the 2CV Shop with the blessing of Citroen. Naturally, it features the distinctive, corrugated look of the classic H van, but it also receives some modern touches.

This is the EV type but a diesel will also be on offer.

Not only can the 2CV shop produce a Type H from a new Relay but it will also make one for owners of existing Relay vans, providing it is from 2019 onwards.

The Type H offers a payload of up to 1385kg. It is available in four sizes, with a load volume of up to 17m3. The electric model features a 110kWh battery, and boasts a WLTP range of up to 420km. Buyers considering this for road trips will appreciate the fact it can be fast-charged at up to 150kW.

The rear end with double barn doors.

Inside are an HD touchscreen, climate control, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay. You can option in cruise control to ease driving on long journeys too.

Round headlights complete the classic look
