Chery launched a new double-cab ute called the Himla at Auto Shanghai 2025 to
great fanfare, but it won’t be coming to the New Zealand market.
Chery International president Mr Zhang Guibing says the manufacturer will develop
two new utes with New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technology for the Tasman Seas market.
But they will not be related to the Himla double-cab ute launched at Auto Shanghai.
The first new Chery ute will launch in the second half of 2026, with the second model
arriving later that year.
Mr Zhang says the new utes are unrelated to the recently launched Himla utes which
will solely be produced in left-hand drive for the markets in the Middle East, Central
and South America.
