BYD drivers in New Zealand will soon be able to share their vehicles with family and friends more easily. No physical key is required because the process is all handled via smartphone app.
From the start of July, version 2.8 of the BYD app will permit keyless vehicle sharing. It will be available for owners of Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 6 and 7, and Shark 6. The new feature may be used by owners whose vehicles are registered on BYD’s Cloud Service.

Up to five trusted users can be authorised via the app. This means added flexibility and control over who has access to your vehicle.
BYD New Zealand says the feature is designed to make everyday car sharing easier and more secure.
Authorisation and acceptance are completed through a five-step process in the updated app.
The update will be available for download on both iOS and Android devices as of 1 July.
