BMW New Zealand has a positive first quarter

BMW registrations in the first quarter of 2025 grew 18.6 per cent compared with Q1, 2024.

Mini numbers also rose by 35 per cent for the quarter. Fully electric BMW registrations increased by 28.4 per cent, year on year.

BMW iX1 continues to be a strong performer for the company locally.

This was against a background rise of just under eight per cent for the premium segment in Q1.

Registrations of new BMW models totalled 535 units, 209 of which were in March alone. Mini also had a good March, with new vehicle registrations up 10 per cent over the same period a year ago.

Mini also fared well in Q1 of this year thanks to model renewals.

BMW registered 131 new EVs between January and March. The BMW iX1 continues to fare well, almost two years after it launched on the market, experiencing 86 per cent year-on-year growth during the first quarter.

Registrations of Mini BEVs also grew as customers experience the new offerings that feature extended EV driving range, among other things.

Countryman is another Mini model that's available as an EV now.

BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director, Adam Shaver, said there were multiple factors behind the solid first quarter earnings.

“This excellent result starts with our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience via our dealer network.

“This is combined with compelling product across numerous vehicle types and powertrains, which is evidenced by the outstanding response to both our internal combustion and BEV offerings, as well as our BMW M models.”
