Another all-black Land Rover emerges

Following on from the recent release of the RR Sport SV Black, there’s a similar Defender Octa model. This darkened version is Defender Octa Black.

Up she goes, the new Defender Octa Black doing its off-road thing.

It features extensive black detailing that brings with it a more purposeful presence.

Up to 30 exterior elements receive black finishes as part of the transformation. And like the RR it is finished in Narvik Black, deep and dark with a gloss finish. There’s also an optional matte protective film.

Lots of purpose here, seemingly more so in the black hue.

Its front undershield and rear scuff plates are painted in satin black powder coat with exposed recovery eyes in satin black. A gloss black tow eye cover at the front and gloss black quad exhaust tips at the rear provide a contrasting finish. The Land Rover oval on the grille is black with darkened silver script. Even underbody elements feature a gloss or satin black finish, including the cover for the exhaust silencer and centre box.

Pitch black inside as well.

Both 20-inch forged wheels and 22-inch gloss black hoops are available, with black centre caps. Gloss black brake calipers feature contrasting sentient silver script.

Black wheels look the part here.

On the inside, Ebony semi-aniline leather with Danish Kvadrat graces Defender for the first time. It brings a soft and tactile finish to the performance seats. They feature unique perforation patterns with new stitching detail on the backrests. Seat backs and armrest hinges are finished in carpathian grey.

Snow is the best place to show off the new all-black treatment for Defender Octa.

Across the dashboard the finish is satin black powder coat. A cost option is a chopped carbon fibre finish.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender, said: “The introduction of Defender Octa Black takes things up a notch. We know our clients love giving their Defenders all-black finishes, so our designers have applied this principle to every possible surface …to create the ultimate tough luxury Defender Octa.”

Up front is a 467kW 4.4‑litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8. DOB has adaptive suspension and a dedicated Octa Mode for performance off‑road use. The Body and Soul Seats (BASS) feature tactile transducers so occupants can feel the music they are listening to, as well as hear it. These are fed by a 700wpc, 15-speaker, Meridian Surround Sound System.

Spare wheel located where it's easiest to extract.

Defender Octa Black includes recent enhancements across the Defender line-up. These include a new headlight design with revised signature graphic, and flush rear lights with smoked lenses. The standard Defender Octa also comes with three new colour options this year.

Agro up front visage.

Defender is the official automotive partner of Oasis Live ’25, transporting the British band on their 41-date global tour.
