And yet more on new MG4 as the interior is revealed

SAIC Motor has revealed the interior of the updated MG4 ahead of its imminent debut in China. It features a new dashboard, an intelligent infotainment system co-developed with Oppo, and upgraded seat designs.

Bigger central screen, now floating.

A 15.6-inch floating central screen is the highlight, replacing the integrated display. Only five function buttons remain below the screen. Air vents are now hidden within the dashboard surface, further enhancing its minimalist design.

Just five buttons below the screen for new MG4.

The new infotainment system is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. There’s wireless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it supports smartphone-based vehicle control, and gesture-based navigation. There’s also AI-powered voice interaction and app mirroring. A 50-watt wireless charging pad with cooling takes pride of place below the screen in the centre console.

Seats up front allow for a laid back sleeping position.

Two interior colour schemes will be available, Rose Purple and Mountain Blue. It’s all part of MG’s “Swan Wing” design language, combining simplified structures with soft-touch materials.

Looks like these might mark quite easily.

New front seat designs aim for enhanced ergonomics. Seat backs now use a one-piece construction for added support. Each seat features a longer 503mm cushion with both ventilation and heating elements. The driver’s footwell adopts a flat pedal angle designed to reduce leg strain on long trips.

A bit flasher in the back but still the horror show rear internal view with huge headrests.

In the rear, MG has extended the seat cushion to 522mm and set the backrest at a 27-degree recline angle. The floor is fully flat to enhance rear legroom, and the seat backs fold 60/40 for enhanced luggage capacity. A panoramic sunroof with an integrated sunshade is available on higher trim levels.

The new MG4 continues to use SAIC’s Nebula EV platform. Respective external measurements (length, width and height) are 4395mm, 1842mm, and 1551mm. The wheelbase of 2750mm is up 45mm on the previous model. These changes, and the move to FWD, support the interior’s expanded proportions and improved passenger space. No luggage capacity details are to hand but expect more than the 365L available in the outgoing model.
