A centenary for Ford Australia marked by stamp release

Ford Australia is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. And to mark the occasion, Australia Post is releasing a limited-edition stamp collection featuring four iconic models from the past century.

The four iconic models from Ford chosen for the 2025 limited-edition stamp collection.

Up first, naturally, is the Model T. It was the first Ford to roll off the Geelong assembly line in 1925. The concept? Making motoring accessible, and it stamped its place firmly in history.

An Australian icon of the mid-60s, the XP Falcon made headlines in 1965 as it completed a 112,000km nine-day durability track test. Nowadays, the same facility leads the global development of Ranger and Everest.

The XP was also the first Australian car to win the Wheels ‘Car of the Year’ award. Ford produced almost 71,000 XP Falcons between 1965 and 1966.

The XA Falcon GT and a blown up version of the stamp with the GT.

The XA GT was an icon in Falcon’s 56-year run. The XA design and build all took place for the first time in Australia. It launched in 1972. The GT was the poster child of 1970s Australian muscle car culture. It won back-to-back Bathurst endurance races, and was famous for its segment-defining “coke-bottle” body styling.

The final stamp in the collection features the FG X Falcon XR8. The FG X XR8 was the final series of V8-powered Falcon to roll off the Broadmeadows assembly line. It all ended in October 2016, after more than 50 years of Ford making cars in Australia.

Some Ford fan with the last of the locally built Falcons, the FG XR8.

Sharon Rodziewicz of Australia Post Design Studio penned the stamps with accurate rendering thanks to Hughes Motorsport Art. Each of the four stamps has a face value of $1.70.

Andrew Birkic, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand commented: “As we celebrate Ford Australia’s Centenary, we’re excited to collaborate with Australia Post to commemorate four notable models from the past 100 years. We’re honoured that Ford has found a place in the lives of so many Australians through the decades. This new collectable stamp range is a keepsake for all fans that bleed blue. As we look to the next 100 years, these four models are a reminder of our roots, and how Australian motoring continues to evolve.”

Yep, different colour but it's the same car I reckon.

Josh Bannister, Australia Post Executive General Manager Retail, Brand and Marketing added: “Ford has been part of everyday life in Australia for a century, so this stamp collection is a great way to celebrate that legacy. It honours the cars, the people who built them, and the stories they’ve created across the country. Australia Post is proud to commemorate 100 years of Ford in Australia with a stamp collection that reflects its lasting impact.”

The limited-edition centenary stamp collection is available at Australia Post outlets and online at auspost.com.au/stamps from 2nd September 2025.
