The Defender Pickup is back, sort of

Two European car customizers, Urban Automotive and Heritage Customs, have joined forces to build a Defender Pickup. It is said to be the first converted pickup version of the new Land Rover Defender. It was recently revealed at a private event in the Netherlands.

The collaboration apparently combines both brands’ signature design philosophies. Heritage Customs made the Heritage Edition (above) while Urban Automotive brings its ‘aggressive OEM+ design ethos’ to the Urban Edition (below).

Both versions are based on the Defender 130, powered by a V8, blending traditional off-road capability with bespoke luxury.

“After creating the Defender Soft-top earlier this year, it was a natural step to explore another ‘forgotten’ model – the pickup,” said Jan-Pieter Kroezen, CEO of Heritage Customs. “The classic 110 Defender crew cab was always one of the most desirable Defenders, and we wanted to capture that same spirit with the new 130 platform.”

Patrick Meijer, CEO of parent company AM Group, added: “These two interpretations perfectly show how our brands can take one vehicle and deliver two completely different yet equally stunning visions.”

The Urban Edition Defender Pickup will make its UK public debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
