2026 Toyota HiLux reveal set for November 11

Toyota has confirmed that the next-generation HiLux will make its global debut on November 11, 2025, ending months of speculation surrounding one of New Zealand’s most popular utes. The announcement came via Toyota Motor Thailand, accompanied by a teaser video offering the first official glimpse of the updated design.

The clip reveals a bolder front-end treatment featuring upswept LED headlights and C-shaped tail-light elements, signalling a sharper, more modern look for the HiLux. While the new model has been widely leaked in recent months, Toyota’s teaser confirms the ute’s evolution rather than a full redesign.

Unlike the North American Toyota Tacoma, which now rides on the new TNGA-F platform shared with the Land Cruiser Prado and 300 Series, the 2026 HiLux will reportedly retain its curent ladder-frame chassis. That means the ute will keep much of its proven hardware, though a new dashboard layout and 12.3-inch touchscreen will bring a much-needed cabin update.

Under the bonnet, expect familiar diesel power. The 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel is likely to return, available with or without Toyota’s 48V mild-hybrid system. Power outputs should remain around 150kW/500Nm, with the GR Sport variant expected to continue as the performance flagship at 165kW/550Nm.

The upcoming model will need to deliver both innovation and capability if Toyota hopes to reclaim its best seller crown from Ranger in 2026.
