Nissan has revealed a refreshed version of its Ariya electric SUV, bringing a cleaner new look and upgraded tech ahead of its 2026 arrival.
The Ariya’s first major update since its 2022 debut introduces a more minimalist front end. The large black panel that framed the original model’s nose is gone, replaced by a smoother design that highlights a back-lit Nissan badge. New curved daytime running lights with a three-stripe signature replace the previous angular units, while the side intakes have been deleted entirely for a sleeker, more aerodynamic face.

The revised styling brings the Ariya closer in line with the upcoming Leaf crossover, which launches overseas next year. Nissan hasn’t yet shown the rear, but mild updates to the tail-lights are expected.
Tech upgrades are led by a new Google-based infotainment system, something already rolled out in the latest Qashqai and Leaf, which offers improved navigation, voice control, and connected services. The Ariya also gains vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing owners to power external devices from the car’s battery.

In Japan, suspension tuning has been revised for improved comfort, and similar updates could come to export models, addressing criticism of the Ariya’s firm ride.

No performance or range figures have been confirmed, though efficiency tweaks could see modest gains over the current model’s 400–530km range (depending on battery size).
Nissan says the updated Ariya will launch in Japan later this fiscal year, with global markets, including New Zealand, expected to follow in 2026.
