Lexus New Zealand has bolstered its luxury SUV line-up, adding plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants to its popular RX and NX models, alongside a limited-run RX 500h Black Line special edition.

The 2025 Lexus RX 450h+ Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is now available in Limited specification—a first for the RX range. The NX series also gains a new PHEV option, the NX 450h+ Limited, expanding customer choices for reduced CO₂ tailpipe emissions without sacrificing premium performance.

Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand, highlighted the importance of these additions as the brand continues its electrification journey.

“We are constantly evolving and upgrading our product offering to ensure our customers have the right powertrain, and for many of our Lexus customers, PHEV is the next step in their electrification journey,” Davis says. “We believe it offers the best of both worlds before stepping into a full battery electric vehicle.”

In 2024, electrified vehicles—Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), PHEVs, and Battery Electric Vehicles—made up 88% of Lexus sales in New Zealand.

Limited to just 15 units nationwide, most already pre-sold, the 2025 Lexus RX 500h Black Line special edition is based on the RX 500h F SPORT Performance variant. It features exclusive black exterior styling elements, unique 21-inch split-five-spoke black metallic wheels, and distinctive orange brake callipers. Exterior colours available include Graphite Black, Sonic Iridium, and White Nova.

Inside, the Black Line boasts black leather and Ultrasuede upholstery accented by Dark Aluminium ornamentation, with illuminated F SPORT scuff plates and courtesy lights projecting the F SPORT logo.

“RX is core to the Lexus brand, so it was a natural step to add to what’s already been a popular range and give our performance customers something special,” Davis adds. “Combine premium Takumi craftsmanship, hybrid efficiency, smooth handling, and renowned Lexus reliability, and you have a vehicle that should easily be on the shortlist for any new luxury SUV buyer.”

Upgrades across the RX range

All RX models receive technology enhancements for 2025, including a new 12.3-inch digital multi-information display and wireless Android Autoâ„¢ compatibility. Noise-reducing rear side glass, brighter interior illumination, and improved fuel efficiency for the RX 350h variants (down from 6.0 to 5.4L/100km) also feature in the update.

Pricing across the RX range starts at $124,900 for the RX 350h Premium, with the RX 450h+ Limited priced at $144,900, and the exclusive RX 500h Black Line at $155,500.

All models include Lexus’s comprehensive ownership package: a four-year unlimited kilometre warranty, full maintenance service plan, an eight-year or 160,000-kilometre high-voltage battery warranty, and Lexus Plus AA Roadside Assistance.

The new Lexus RX and NX variants are available now at select Lexus dealerships across New Zealand.
