Local pricing announced for Kia Tasman ute

Kia New Zealand has confirmed that the Tasman will debut here in Q3. Pricing for the double-cab ute range will start at $52,690. That’s for the TX 4WD model and is exclusive of ORCs. The range-topping X-Pro 4WD Ute will sell for $79,690 plus ORCs.

All set for farm life here.

Managing Director of Kia New Zealand, Todd McDonald, said: “We will be launching with the double-cab wellside variant, a style that is incredibly popular amongst Kiwi ute buyers…whether it’s loaded up for work on the farm or for a weekend getaway.”

“This will be the first of a number of new variants we will introduce over coming months so there will be a Tasman model to suit almost all requirements.”

But one of the environments where Tasman is set to excel in.

He continued: “At the heart of Tasman is a custom tuned 2.2-litre diesel engine that is capable of producing 154kW of power and 440Nm of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission…delivering both power and efficiency.”

Kia says further highlights of the new Tasman include its off-road capability, all-round durability and overall practicality.

Check out our report of another new Kia inbound.

“Overseas testing of the new Ute has proven it to be an incredibly capable off-road performer” said McDonald.

Boxy styling just like the EV line-up from Kia.

“It offers an 800mm wading depth across all models in the line-up.

“A standardised locking differential is also a feature on all variants in the Tasman portfolio, as is low-range gearing, whilst the top of the line X-Pro delivers ground clearance of up to 252mm.

“The Tasman has also undergone extensive durability testing…subject to tens of thousands of kilometres across a variety of terrain and environments.

“Driver-interaction features of the cabin such as buttons, switchgear and componentry have also been subject to rigorous testing. Kia is confident that Tasman is robust and ready for action, both inside and out.

“This also applies to its all-round interior practicality, especially from a packaging perspective.

He said that “Tasman offers best-in-segment second-row roominess when measures such as headroom and shoulder room are considered.

And in an urban environment.
This example was snapped parked up in Auckland by an observant passerby.

“That is further enhanced in the case of X-Line and X-Pro as they feature a sliding and reclining second-row seat.”

McDonald continued: “Tasman features car-like interior fit, finish and appointment – this Ute is a no-compromise experience and one that can be enjoyed by the driver and all the passengers.”

Kia Tasman interior very car like, as is the norm these days.

Tasman will also come with five years of Kia’s Connect service (app allows remote connection, traffic and weather status etc), complemented with over-the-air updates, making it more future proof.
