Renault has announced a new Trafic, using a fresh 2.0-litre diesel engine and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The new engine produces 125kW at 3500rpm and 380Nm of torque. It is only available with the dual-clutch automatic. According to Renault, the new drivetrain has a rated consumption of 7.3L/100km. The vehicle has a payload of 1250kg as well as a towing capacity of 1630kg in the long wheelbase variant.

The design has also been refreshed with new C-shaped LED DRLs and a refashioned grille. We’re not sure about New Zealand models but Aussie versions get automatic dusk-sensing LED headlamps.

Other changes include a multimedia system compatible with both types of smartphone, more in-cabin storage and a mobile phone cradle.

Load capacity is rated at 5200 litres in the short wheelbase version and up to 6000L in the long wheelbase version.

We haven’t heard about local spec or pricing yet but expect that information soon.
