LDV will debut a new electric van at the 2019 Commercial Vehicle Show.

It will essentially be a smaller version of the EV80, with a range of 193km and a charge time of 90 minutes from flat to full. Other details are being kept quiet.

The electric power is sent to a new intelligent CVT, which adjusts torque and power output of the motor to smooth out the ride.

Mark Barrett, general manager of LDV U.K. & Ireland, said: “Investing in one or a fleet of EVs will cut down long-term operational costs for a business, and there has never been a better time to make the change to emission-free fleets thanks to [UK] Government grant schemes.

“Electric-powered vehicles are no longer a novelty or a green trophy on the road and will soon become the norm and this is reflected in the number of automotive brands, both in the domestic and commercial markets, which are moving their focus from fuel-dependent engines to hybrids and pure-electric models.”
