Ford takes commercial market lead
Ford regained the commercial market lead in January, despite a softer overall month than the same period last year.
It took 22 per cent of the business with 888 units registered, with Toyota in second place with fifteen per cent (594 units) and Mitsubishi third on eleven per cent (445 units).
The Ford Ranger retained its usual top spot as the best-selling commercial model with 21 per cent share (837 units) followed by the new Mitsubishi Triton with eleven per cent share (445 units) with the Toyota Hilux third also with eleven per cent market share (434 units).
Nissan’s Navara and the Holden Colorado round out the top five, with the Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Toyota Hiace, Hyundai iLoad and the Volkswagen Amarok completing the ten best-selling commercial vehicles.
“As 2019 gets underway, the economic environment that existed this time last year and before that has begun to fundamentally change, albeit slowly. However, levels of new vehicle sales while softer than this time last year, remain at historically high levels ” said David Crawford, Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Industry Association.
