Commercial market up in February
The used commercial market increased sales by 5.5 per cent last month compared with February 2018, up to an even 1000 units.
However, the year-to-date total has dropped slightly by 1.8 per cent, or by 35 units, compared with the first two months of 2018. The majority of the regional centres reported big increases, although from a low base compared with the year before. For example, in February 2019 versus the same month last year, Whangarei had an increase in sales of used commercials of 90 per cent, up from 20 a year ago to 38.
New Plymouth jumped 72.7 per cent from 11 in February 2018 to 19, while Christchurch increased by 29.9 per cent from 97 units to 126 and Wellington showed a rise of 25 per cent from 56 units to 70.
Toyota remained commercial king, with 437 units sold for a 43.7 per cent share of the monthly market, followed by Nissan on 21.3 per cent. The top model was Toyota’s Hiace with a 33.9 per cent market share and sales of 339 last month.
