Yamaha has given the MT-03 a sprucing with new bodywork and graphics headlining the changes.

There’s a new LED headlight cluster, with narrow R1-style strips above a large main beam and the tank gets new shrouds and air scoops. In front of the rider is a new LCD panel, showing all vital information like revs, speed, engine temperature and fuel remaining.

Mechanical changes include new 37mm inverted forks, an extended asymmetric swingarm with a revised monoshock rear suspension unit now offering adjustable preload and damping along with a stiffer spring. Braking is handled by a 298mm disc up front and a 220mm rotor at the rear. ABS is standard.

Power still comes from the ex-R3 parallel twin engine, making the same 31kW and 29Nm. The bike is said to weigh just under 170kg fully fuelled so it should feel quicker than the sum of its parts.

We’re waiting on confirmed local pricing but for reference, the current MT-03 is retailing for $7139.
