New Zealand’s One-Stop Vespa Shop
Vespa fans and fanatics, your dreams of a one-stop shop have been answered with the imminent opening of Vespa Auckland, situated in downtown Auckland at Victoria Park Market.
And if you’re not a local, you can buy online via their website (vespaauckland.co.nz). There’s also a 20 per cent off lockdown promotion on clothes and accessories which ends in a week.
The Vespa store (and service centre) sells only Vespa product, making it unique in New Zealand. It was due to open in March but the coronavirus lockdown stopped that from happening, and the outlet will now officially open once New Zealand hits level 2 Alert status. Expect that sometime around mid-May.
The operation is overseen by Vespa enthusiast, Daniel McGrane who has been in the motorcycle industry for 20 years. He owns four historic Vespas so knows a bit about the brand. But he’s not just a Vespa aficionado, his garage home to a pair of BMW motorcycles, and five cars.
The new boutique shop is fitted out as per Piaggio store guidelines, so is like what you might see back in Italy. It’s also akin to a Mini garage, modern, colourful and with a huge array of Vespa models (see below). The background of the brand is writ large on the walls, not only with images and history, but also with a host of miniature models.
McGrane plans to involve customers in group rides and the like. So if you’ve a hankering for a Vespa, need your pride and joy serviced, or just want some lifestyle pieces, pop in and have a cuppa with Daniel at Store 15, Victoria Park Market, Auckland CBD.
