For those with a Dakar hankering
KTM has released another 450 Rally Replica, updated for 2021. Just 85 are to be made, and they go on sale at the end of Q3.
The components and performance of the machine have been dictated by KTM Factory Racing’s Toby Price, Matthias Walkner and Sam Sunderland. So it should actually do the business, if multistage cross-country rallies are what you’re into.
Its 450cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine is cocooned in a competition-based chassis that features WP XACT PRO closed cartridge suspension with Cone Valve technology. The aerodynamics and ergonomics are designed for handling a broad cross section of terrain.
New for 2021 are a revised gearbox and shift mechanism. The direct influence of PANKL Racing Systems not only improves the bike’s reliability, but also benefits the rider with a larger gear spread.
Stefan Huber, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Rally Team Leader commented “With this model we have already set the bar very high in giving the customers a product so close to what we prepare and take to rallies across the world.”
Even if you can secure one, it won’t be cheap, costing the equivalent of $NZ45,000 in Europe when it goes on sale in September.
