Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, let slip recently that a new naked bike powered by the 1100cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 is on its way.

Chatting at the recent launch of the 2019 Diavel 1260 S, Domenicali reportedly touched on future plans for Ducati. He was asked if a streetfighter-style bike with the V4 could be a possibility and replied by asking if Ducati should build such a bike. Obviously, the answer was yes, to which Domenicali said: “It will, therefore, be there as soon as possible!”

What “soon” means is anyone’s guess but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a lairy streetfighter at either of the big motorbike shows towards the end of the year - Intermot in Cologne or EICMA in Milan.

Sadly for middleweight fans, the Ducati boss didn’t comment on any mid-range V4 models. Previously he has stated that the development costs to bring the V4 down to that size would be too much and so wouldn’t happen.

However, when asked about a Ducati scooter, Domenicali responded with a smile: “that’s top secret!”
