Aston Martin reveals foray into motorcycles
Aston Martin has decided to have a go at the two-wheeled world with this, the 134kW AMB 001.
AM partnered with Brough Superior to build the track-only machine, which is powered by a turbocharged 997cc V-twin.
It certainly looks the part, with the turbocharger nestled between the two splayed cylinders. The engine sits below swoopy bodywork, which houses a thin leather seat. According to the builders, it is meant to perfectly fit the human form.
Low handlebars up front precede an angular front end with a split digital display while the exhausts exit either side of the carbon fibre belly pan. Before adding fuel, the bike tips the scales at 179kg.
The front suspension is a double-wishbone design by Fior, machined from billet aluminium. We’re not sure how well that will work at the track but Aston and Brough seem convinced.
Want one? Get ready to pony up. Only 100 will be hand-assembled and each will cost 108,000 euro ($NZ187,956). First deliveries are expected by the end of 2020.
