Toyota has released a somewhat odd teaser for the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, previewing what looks like an all-wheel drive Prius.

An image of a blue Toyota kicking up snow with the accompanying caption "Fall is here, winter's near, but the 2019 Prius performs on roads whether snowy or clear," certainly suggests as much.

Aside from the obvious drivetrain changes, the only visible differences are a pair of roof racks and a slightly higher ride height. Since both the Prius and RAV4 Hybrid use the TNGA platform, Toyota’s engineers may have been able to leverage the SUV’s all-wheel drive layout for use in the Prius. In the RAV, that consists of an electric motor powering the rear wheels while the petrol engine spins the fronts.

Clarification awaits the LA Auto Show at the end of the month.
