Toyota Supra TRD Concept rears its head
Toyota has revealed the lairy-looking Supra TRD Concept online, showing off how Supra buyers can amp up their sports coupe.
Unfortunately you can only ‘amp up’ the visuals.
Up front, there’s a carbon fibre TRD-spec front spoiler with fins to increase downforce during high-speed runs. You’ll see the side skirts have had the same treatment, which also helps lower the centre of gravity slightly.
There’s also a carbon door garnish which reduces turbulence and offers smoother airflow to the rear end.
Out back, there are carbon spats just behind the rear wheels for extra stability while a slightly larger ducktail spoiler - again made from carbon fibre - helps to press the car into the road even more. A set of 19-inch forged aluminium wheels completes the package.
Suspension, brake and powertrain enhancements are nowhere to be seen, which will no doubt disappoint some fans, but the bottom of TRD Japan’s web page has a little “To Be Continued” notice. With any luck, TRD will unveil some performance hardware in the near future.
