Toyota New Zealand has issued a recall for the new Prado SUV and Hiace van over a potential fuel leak issue.

"This is a precautionary measure due to the potential for the fuel pipe that connects the fuel pump to the common rail to come loose from engine vibrations," Toyota New Zealand said in a statement.

"If this was to occur, it could result in the engine stalling."

Affected models were built between March 11 and June 19 in 2019, covering 427 Hiaces and 177 Prados in New Zealand. Owners have reportedly already been contacted by Toyota, which will replace the fuel pipe for free.

More information can be found by contacting Toyota New Zealand at 0800 869 682.
