Toyota has revealed a new Corolla variant called the Cross which, as the name suggests, is a new crossover model.

It has been revealed in Thailand but will evidently be made available across the Asia Pacific region, Australia reporting it will be on sale there in 2022. And given the success of SUVs in this market, it will likely make its way here too at some point.

In size, the Corolla Cross fits between the upcoming Yaris Cross and RAV4. It rides on the 'GA-C' platform that is used by other Corolla variants.

The details are scant in terms of powertrain and dimensions, but the hybrid badge on the flank means it’ll be offered in petrol/electric guise. It will presumably utilise the same 90kW 1.8-litre hybrid system as other Corolla models, and likely offer the conventional 125kW/200Nm 2.0-litre petrol powertrain as well.
