Porsche 992 911 Turbo could top 600hp
The 992-generation 911 Turbo is on its way and rumours reckon it will pack a decent dollop more power than the current version.
The current 991.2 Turbo makes 397kW while the Turbo S offers 427kW. Respectable numbers for sure but Porsche knows its buyers will want more.
Expect the same turbocharged 3.8-litre flat six to carry over, albeit with various performance tweaks to allow for an excess of 447kW (600hp) in base Turbo form. If the power gulf is similar as the 991.2 generation, expect the Turbo S to come with around 477kW (640hp).
All-wheel-drive and Porsche’s eight-speed PDK gearbox will be standard, along with a bunch of dynamic aids, including rear-wheel steering.
Expect the bones to be the same as the 992 Carreras, meaning it’ll be lighter and better. When we had the new Carrera 2 S at the office, senior editor Louisson called it the best drive of the year “without a shadow of a doubt.”
Now we wait until for capital-T Turbo to see what happens when the 992 911 gets a little bit unhinged.
