A handful of Peter Brock’s cars went under the hammer over the weekend at Bathurst. His 1982/83 Bathurst-winning HDT Commodore VH SS sold for $AUD2.1 million ($NZD2.29m).

Thirty-six Brock cars were offered, as well as a bunch of memorabilia, although not everything sold. The first car under the hammer was a Walkinshaw Andretti United ZB Commodore raced by Scott Pye this year. It sold for $230,000 and will be delivered at the end of the 2019 season as a rolling chassis.

A 1987 Holden Commodore VL Group A race car was the first Brock vehicle to sell, going for $800,000. Also selling for $800k was a Ford Falcon XY GT Phase III driven by Brock.

Some gems that didn’t make the cut included a 1977 Holden Torana that ended at $250,000, a 1974 Holden Torana L34 that stalled at $375,000, and a Holden Torana A9X which failed to meet its reserve at $310,000.

Surprisingly, a 1991 Holden Commodore VN driven by Brock and Andrew Miedecke failed to sell despite bidding climbing to $310,000. The 1984 HDT Big Banger remained, despite bidding reached $850,000.

The 1982/83 Bathurst-winning HDT VH Commodore went across the blocks last, and was a new Australian auction record, early sale estimates being right on the money.
