The outgoing Focus RS isn’t exactly wanting for power, offering 257kW/440Nm from the factory. However, Mountune has different ideas.

Back in August, the tuning firm announced a pair of tuning kits for the outgoing Ford Focus RS, with the more potent option boosting power to 382kW. Not bad, you might say, but how about 510kW and 767Nm?

That’s nearly double the stock output, achieved thanks to a BorgWarner EFR 8374 turbocharger and Mountune’s own MRX cylinder head. In fact, the tuner reckons their tweaked RS engine is the most powerful four-cylinder engine using direct-injection only.

How long the engine lasts is another story, as is whether or not Mountune will actually create a 510kW upgrade package. For now though, even as a proof of concept, Mountune has created something awesome.
