Lotus has posted a new teaser on its Facebook page, showing a yellow cloud with ‘16.04.19’ set against it. Whatever it means, we’re intrigued.

It could be Lotus’ upcoming hypercar, thus far only known as Omega, an all-electric, all-wheel drive monster rivalling the Aston Martin Valkyrie. It was previously believed to still be a few years away but perhaps it’s closer than we thought.

Alternatively, it could be a money-making SUV, which has already been confirmed to be under development. Lotus has gone on the record as saying its SUV will “keep the DNA of Lotus,” which presumably means it will be lightweight and hug corners like a lion chasing a wildebeest. It will also feature input from other Geely brands like Volvo, including technical know-how on electrification.

Finally, we know Lotus wants to build a new sports car to bridge the gap between the current and future models. It will use the existing architecture, albeit updated and offer a blend of high performance and day-to-day liveability. The new car was also scheduled to go on sale in 2020, making it the most likely subject for the reveal.

Pencil in the 16th (17th for us, probably) as that’s when we’ll have all the details.
