Lamborghini confirms Aventador SVJ
Lamborghini has confirmed that the hardcore Aventador SVJ is indeed under development, and now all eyes are on the Nürburgring.
Rumours have been floating around suggesting the SVJ has beaten the 6:47.3 production car lap record for the Nürburgring, currently held by Porsche's latest 911 GT2 RS. The teaser video lends some substance to the murmurs, as we see the car at the ‘Ring and a driver talking to engineers from Pirelli, which supplies high-performance tyres to Lambo. They wouldn’t release such a video without some record-breaking time to back it up, would they?
The Aventador SVJ is expected to run the tried-and-true 6.5-litre V12 with an output nudging 600kW. It will also get a version of the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) active aerodynamics system that debuted on the Huracán Performante. Other tweaks include a new front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser, along with a larger rear wing. The exhaust tips are also mounted higher up, near the taillights.
We should see the Aventador SVJ later this year but expect a steady drip feed of teasers until the proper reveal.
