Hyundai to offer Palisade SUV in NZ
Hyundai will have its big Palisade SUV on sale here by the end of the year.
Described as a ‘premium three-row’ SUV, it’s made with America in mind, and so it’s big. In fact it’s the largest passenger vehicle that Hyundai has ever made. It measures just shy of five metres in length, making it 210mm longer than the Santa Fe, and it’s 85mm wider too, so it should be a snip to park at the supermarket.
There is no word on pricing, powertrain and specification for the New Zealand market just yet. However, Hyundai Australia confirmed it would be offering the Palisade with both the 217kW/355Nm 3.8-litre V6 and the firm’s 2.2-litre diesel which makes 147kW and 440Nm. An eight-speed auto is standard, and likely too AWD. The V6 can be had in front-drive format in the US.
The Palisade has three rows of seating, and is said to major on interior space, with enough seat belts for eight people. There is a quoted 311L of luggage space with all three rows in use, and 704L with the third row folded.
There’s plenty of on-board tech with a 10-inch navigation display, wireless charging, seven USB outlets and all of Hyundai’s latest active safety features. And for the family that likes to keep hydrated, there are 16 cup holders.
Hyundai New Zealand General Manager, Andy Sinclair says “Palisade complements our existing SUV model range, it will sit above the Santa Fe in the line-up, providing Kiwis more choice when it comes to buying a vehicle to meet their lifestyle needs.”
