Hyundai’s ute hasn’t yet been officially confirmed but the rumour mill is already in overdrive. Apparently, the manufacturer is considering an N version of the truck to compete with the likes of the Ford Ranger Raptor.

That’s what Motoring reckons, at least, citing Hyundai N boss, Albert Biermann, as a source. He told the publication that; “you have to be ready for everything from Hyundai and Kia,” adding that anything is possible.

It’s reported that the hot-ute will come with long-travel suspension, aggressive looks and a retuned version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot found in the i30 N. Interestingly, Hyundai’s sporty sub-brand could tune it for more power rather than torque, with it offering as much as 225kW, up from the current 202kW. The 0-100km/h dash could be done under seven seconds as a result.

As for the regular Hyundai ute, that’s expected in 2021. Previous rumours and interviews have hinted at multiple body styles, dual- and single-cab configurations and petrol and diesel engines.
