The Hyundai i20 N has been spotted testing at the Nurburgring ahead of an anticipated reveal sometime later this year. It is expected to rival other hot hatchbacks such as the Ford Fiesta ST and forthcoming Peugeot 208 GTi.

Images indicate this to be a full-fledged N version of the i20. Features such as the big turbine-like wheels, a tall rear wing, bulkier rear bumper and deeper front splitter tell us this is a step up from the standard i20.

The i20 N’s powertrain has not yet been announced, however the power output is likely to be around 149kW (200hp) so likely as not it's the 1.6 turbopetrol hanging over the front axle. This would make it competitive with the Fiesta ST yet wouldn’t intrude on the performance output of the 2.0L i30N.

It has been slated for arrival sometime this year.
