Honda NZ confirms NSX is coming
Honda has just confirmed that the brand new NSX supercar is coming to our roads.
As a quick reminder, the new NSX uses a mid-mounted 3.5-litre twin turbocharged V6 paired with three electric motors as part of the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system. Total system output is 427kW and it’s said to crack 100km/h in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 307km/h.
The NSX brought hypercar technology down to the supercar league with the hybrid powertrain and all-wheel-drive system, but the space frame body, made from a combination of aluminium, ultra-high strength steel and other rigid, lightweight materials is cutting edge in itself. Total weight is claimed to be 1725kg, which is not too bad considering the batteries and electric motors on board. Speaking of which, while it has an electrified aspect to the driveline, it’s more about enhancing performance than emissions-free driving. The NSX will take off in EV mode but only run for a claimed three kilometres before the V6 bursts into life.
The NSX will arrive in May, but Honda hasn’t indicated a price point yet.
