Ford reveals Focus ST wagon
Ford has revealed a further addition to the new Focus ST family, one that will appease those looking for the same fun driving characteristics as the hatch but with more practicality.
The ST wagon will come in either petrol or diesel guise, the former getting a 205kW EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbocharged four-pot while the latter uses a 139kW 2.0-litre turboidiesel. Even better, the EcoBoost variant will get a choice of transmissions, comprising a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic. Diesel buyers only get the manual.
Like the ST, features include a limited-slip differential, rev matching with the manual gearbox and changeable drive modes. Expect better brakes and suspension as well.
It goes without saying that the styling comes straight from the ST hatch. That means a lower ride height, special honeycomb upper and lower grilles, a bespoke front and rear fascia and adaptive cornering LED fog lights. Further exterior details include ST-specific side skirts and an integrated rear spoiler.
However, the bad news is that Ford New Zealand won’t be offering the ST wagon, initially at least.
