The Nissan GT-R turned ten this year and, despite a smattering of styling updates over its life, Godzilla is showing its age. A new one is being worked on in Japan and maybe it could look like this.

Graphic designer, Enoch Gabriel Gonzales, has had a go at creating what he thinks the R36 GT-R could look like, and we reckon it’s not half bad.

There are definite elements of the Italdesign GT-R50 as well as the current Nissan model, and a dash of the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Up front there’s a hexagonal grille punctuated by Nissan’s V-motion motif. Angular headlights house LED DRLs that extend along into the body.

Sharp creases accentuate the profile while the rear houses the signature quartet of taillights, as well as four exhaust outlets. All in all, it looks like a fine evolution of the R35.

The latest rumours have the next GT-R debuting in the first part of the 2020s. Nissan’s design chief, Alfonso Albaisa, has said the R36 will be the “fastest super sports car in the world” but the powertrain, platform and final design are all yet to be signed off.

Electrification is likely in order to meet emissions standards, with the petrol part of the equation is said to be a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a design echoing the now-defunct LMP1 GT-R race car.

Expect big power and an evolution of the ATTESA ET-S four-wheel-drive system when the R36 debuts.
