BMW M2 Competition edition leaked
Ahead of an impending reveal, the BMW M2 Competition has been leaked online in a set of colourful images.
More aggressive looks and extra power are the name of the game here. BMW Australia and online forum BMW Blog Slovenia jumped the gun with the reveal, uploading images and specs before an official reveal.
The M2 Competition gets the same engine as that used by the bigger M4, though detuned slightly. Still, it manages 302kW and 550Nm, up from the regular M2’s 272kW and 465Nm.
As such, the sprint time from 0-100km/h takes a claimed 4.2 seconds with the dual-clutch automatic. For reference, that’s just 0.1sec slower than the M4.
Visually, there’s a more aggressive front bumper with three slits in the lower section and new alloy wheels. The trademark kidney grille is blacked out and the wing mirrors are another donation from the larger M3/M4.
Inside, there is yet more M4 influence with the seats plucked from the bigger coupe. A red start/stop button sits just behind the steering wheel and M1 and M2 buttons on the left spoke of the wheel indicate configurable driver modes.
The M2 Competition is reportedly launching at the Beijing Motor Show later this month.
